Why Discovering My Entrepreneurial Spirit Was The Best Thing That Happened To Me

I started Grip Handbags back in 2014 as an idea and quietly developed it for a few months before officially establishing my brand in April 2015. It was one of those ideas that I couldn't let go of. Immediately when I came up with the concept for my product, my brand, and soon to be business, it was the most exciting feeling in the world. Nothing felt better than Grip Handbags. I was on cloud nine. It was like I finally uncovered a long lost hidden treasure. When I embraced it, my idea was able to come out and make itself known. Discovering my entrepreneurial spirit was the best thing that has ever happened to me, and here is why.
Growing up, I truly have my parents to thank because they have instilled the belief in me that I'm capable of anything. I think its so important to have a sense of independence and a positive view on who you are as a person. Fortunately, I never felt limited in my abilities. I was never afraid of traveling and venturing out into the unknown. I always had a hunger for discovering. And I still do. I can't settle without allowing myself a chance to try.

Creativity is my therapy. I think I will always be a mad artist at heart. Nothing beats the feeling of envisioning an idea, working towards building it, and seeing it come to life in tangible form. That's the miracle of the human mind. I think it's a gift that we all have, especially because we have the ability to turn our imaginations into something real. Most people would call that feeling a purpose. Purpose is almost like finding your perfect match, except occupation wise. Purpose adds so much meaning to your life. Being a self-taught entrepreneur has given me so much confidence, so much happiness, and of course so much purpose. I honestly didn't really know who I was until I started Grip Handbags. Grip blessed me with the tools I needed in order to learn, grow, and better myself both personally and professionally.
Before starting Grip Handbags, I was all over the map as far as occupations go. I couldn't figure out what I wanted to do with my life. I couldn't decide what job appealed to me the most. My parents had ideas for me but I wanted to do things my own way. Because everything was so exciting to me. I love photography, I love social media, I love marketing, I love public relations, I love styling, I love designing, I love operations, I love administrative work, I love traveling, I love engaging with people, I love helping others, I love being an inspiration, I love film, I love storytelling, I love writing. The list goes on.
Understandably, when I was trying to figure out who I was, I felt lost. But I couldn't understand why I felt so lost, when I still had so much hope and energy to give. Then I realized, I'm an entrepreneur. I am an artist. I am a dreamer and a visionary. I am a bit of a control freak. I see no limits. I think outside the box. All my internships and past experiences were necessary in order to understand the full picture, how every small role has an impact as a whole. Every opportunity is just a small piece of the full puzzle. I finally was able to make sense of it all and tie it together for myself.

The result. Declaring myself a boss. I still have so much to learn. But I'm getting better each and every day. I give myself a pat on the back for trying, for putting faith in myself, and for continuing to persevere despite any obstacles that come my way. "Those who wander are not always lost" is one of my favorite quotes.
My advice to all my creative geniuses out there... make every experience count, because you're not lost. You're finding yourself. And that's what Grip Handbags is all about. My products are designed to help you astonish the world, make people look twice. It's about adding that element of "color" into a dark and crazy world. It may sound cliche, but it's true and I believe we need to be reminded of that; that we all have value, we are all capable of great things. Adding that element of YOU is what makes the world special. I am so proud of how far I have come and I am especially grateful for those who have supported me along the way. Never doubt yourself. The sky isn't the limit; shoot for the stars! Hey, maybe you'll find that you're an entrepreneur in the making, just like me.
