10 Things You Need To Have For Everyday Success
Everyone embodies their own definition of what success means to them. But I'm sure we can all agree that 'success' is about moving forward. It has to do with your story. It means feeling good inside and feeling confident in where you're going. Success is about achieving the things in life that we desire to achieve. Success is ultimately a positive thing and it maybe is one of the top things that gets us out of bed every morning. Because without it, who are we? Without success, are we good enough? Without success, are we living?
I believe success is an aspirational element of who we are. We all want to live our best lives. We all want to provide the best experiences we can for our family and loved ones. We desire fulfillment and we want to take in all of life's greatest pleasures. That's what living is all about.
I believe no matter how much money you make, you can be successful. You can make the time each day to work towards a greater good. No matter your circumstances, you can make the time to move towards a goal, to stay ambitious, and to eventually achieve something that is worth your time and effort. Success is important to have (and to celebrate, too) because it reflects your ambitions and character. Success hardly comes to those who sit around. Success comes to those who welcome it with open arms and embrace the journey required to get it.
Here is what you need to have for everyday success. These top ten help me in so many ways.
1). A Positive Attitude: Success starts with a positive attitude. Your mindset is a powerful tool. It shapes the quality of your experiences and how those experiences play out. If you think a certain way, then it forces your head to evaluate your perspectives. It takes a lot of control to nurture a positive mind; but when you allow yourself that kind of positivity (which you deserve), everything flows. Good vibes, baby.
2). Self-confidence: Self-confidence attracts success. Confidence comes natural to some, and for others it takes some work. But no matter what, a little bit of confidence goes a long way. Whatever you can give out can make a big difference. People respect those who exert a sense of self-worth. Trust me on this. We all believe we are good and deserving (which we are). But when you show and express that to the world, you become a whole different level of 'good and deserving.' People want to be around people they feel are special, or have a rare kind of potential. It's selfish, I know. But it's also understandable. We want to surround ourselves with people who inspire and lift us up.
3). A Vision Board: If you can visualize it, you can achieve it right? My grandmother has always instilled that belief in me. Still to this day she tells me, "If you can imagine it, it's yours." Make a vision board that exemplifies all the things you love and want to have someday. When you have your vision up in front of you, you can be reminded of why you work hard in the first place. It will hopefully motivate you and inspire you to keep following your dreams day after day. Sometimes having something tangible in front of you makes everything more clear; when things are clear, you can pave the path towards your success much faster. Stay focused.
4). Motivational Music: Music is medicine. It's therapy for the soul. It instantly lifts the heart and heightens the senses. It has the power to change you, to motivate you, and to inspire you. Music adds color to your life. A journey towards success is much more rewarding with music by your side. I highly recommend making yourself a playlist of all the songs that instantly make you happy and trigger your creativity. Play it next time you're ready to start the day, and you'll be off to an amazing start.
5). Know Your Brand: Know who you are, what you stand for, and create your brand. People need to identify with something. When you have a declared identity, everything comes together and gives you a greater purpose. That drive will help you achieve success.
6). Business Cards: Business cards are a no brainer. Have lots of them on you everywhere you go. You never know who you are going to meet. In order to take advantage of every opportunity of success, you need to be ready for an opportunity (or more) at any given minute. Put your best foot forward, and impress everyone with your confidence and punctuality.
7). Inspiring Books: As I like to say, today's readers are tomorrow's leaders. As much as I love television, it's sometimes nice to get lost in a good book. It awakens your imagination. I personally enjoy motivational self-help books. It's nice to read about others' experiences and learn what advice they have for you. Learning from those who have walked the walk before you is a great starting point to achieving your success.
8). Long and Short Term Goals: Set your goals and make them clear. Short term goals are things you need to get done for the day, or perhaps for the week. They're goals such as finishing your paper, or writing an e-mail to your boss. Long term goals are things you have to do now that are a work in progress. They're things that you focus your energy on little by little and will eventually reach completion. Everyday I make sure I get at least one short term goal done and one to-do done towards my long term goals.
9). A Planner/ To-Do Lists: I love planners. I have a thing for planners and cute stationary. I make to-do lists all the time. I probably own like 20 different notepads, journals, sketch books, sticky notes, etc. They all serve a purpose for me. I love writing things down. I honestly cannot rely on my phone notes. It's not the same. When I write things down in pen on paper, my head processes it differently. Investing in a planner is worth it. It's a great way to keep track of your schedule, manage your time, and stay organized. I love reviewing my to-do lists for the next day right before bed. It is peaceful to me knowing that I have everything I need to know written down, so when I wake up the next day I'm ready to go. I don't even have to think. I mean, not until I have my coffee...
10). Network of Support: Surround yourself with contagious people. People who are creative, who have good energy, who are kind hearted, who understand you and care for you, and who want the best for you. True friends and acquaintances don't compete with one another; they lift each other up. They find ways to work together. There is never a need to look a other people's success as a threat. You should see success for what it is. Success. And you can have it too. Success is part of your story if you want it just as bad as the person standing next to you. Focus on your journey. Your success will come if you just believe in yourself and continuously work hard. Never compare yourself to others.
So go out there and network, meet people who share a common goal, and follow these ten steps everyday. You'll be golden.
